Day 7: Headed home

We are homeward bound.

Our day started around 2 a.m as we loaded up the trucks and Justin and Bill drove us to the San Pedro Sula airport. Instead of most people standing in the truck bed for the 2-hour drive, like the ride up the mountain, most people were sleeping inside the truck cabs this morning. Jarrett rode with the luggage.

We said our goodbyes with Justin, headed for security, and our adventure began. Bill got pulled out for a random search and pat down at the gate in Honduras, and Emma managed to get past security with a full water bottle. In Miami, Levi and Emma were pulled out of lines for full body scans and Jarrett got caught by TSA with a bottle of bug spray in his carry-on.

Leaving Honduras, we bumped into one of Bill’s old friends leading a missions team from West Virginia. They were heading home after a weeklong medical mission just outside San Pedro Sula.

We are now sitting in the Miami airport, with the guys eating Wendy’s cheeseburgers and fries. We leave for Washington in about an hour and are excited to see you all at church tomorrow.
