Day 2: Painting, meeting the students, soccer, and more soccer

Today, we began with a filling breakfast and a devotional. After breakfast we went to Instituto Gubernamental Soberania in San Antonio De Cortese, 15 minutes down the mountain from Por Que No Tu, to paint.

We began with the library, painting the inside and the outside, going from green to white. During this time, students that didn’t have class stopped by to talk, trying phrases like “My name is…” in English, and others helped us paint.

We had a quick break, and some people went to play soccer with the kids. We finished the library and had lunch. After lunch, we painted the outside of the first floor of the building white and blue. At 4 pm we stopped painting and cleaned up.

Then, we went to the soccer field and challenged the kids there to a game. It was tight in the beginning, but we were no match for the skill and teamwork of the kids.

Finally, we went home and enjoyed a wonderful meal of egg, bean, and chicken soup with rice and freshly made corn tortillas, with tres leches and chocolate cakes for dessert.
